Mary Pat Link has been a leader in innovation and champion for nonprofits for over 40 years. She founded Interlink Group, later acquired by Dell Computer, and now serves alongside her husband, John Strohm, as a founding member and managing partner of Farrell-Roeh Group.
Originally from Illinois, Ms. Link started her career in Chicago as a computer programmer in 1981. She relocated to Colorado and in 1989 started an independent computer consulting business, which eventually became Interlink Group, Inc. Under Ms. Link’s leadership, Interlink Group grew from one employee to 400, with offices in six states and Pune, India.
In 2000, Interlink was sold to Texas Pacific Group; however, in 2001, Ms. Link and Mr. Strohm reacquired the interest in Interlink from Texas Pacific Group. Together they restructured the company, hired back key employees, and rebuilt the business. In 2006, Interlink was sold to EMC Corporation, which was eventually acquired by Dell Computer. Ms. Link’s other career highlights include serving as a co-founder and board member of Countermind-Ventures, LLC – a software company with mobile and wireless product offerings.
Ms. Link has given back to her community in a variety of ways and continues to do so in her current role. She’s served as a board member for Young American’s Education Foundation, Denver Area Council Boy Scouts of America, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, Denver Center for Performing Arts, and was an active member of the World Presidents Organization. Presently, through the Strohm-Link Family Foundation she started with her husband and family, she helps provide financial support and leadership to various organizations in Colorado and nationally.
Ms. Link’s impressive leadership and innovative spirit have been consistently recognized throughout her career. She was added to the Forty under 40 list in 1997 and was named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year 1995 and 2000. In 1995, Interlink was recognized on the Inc. 500 list at #51 of the fastest growing companies in America, #56 on Denver Business Journal’s list of fastest growing Colorado private companies, and #14 on Colorado Biz Magazine’s list of top Woman-Owned businesses. Two years later, the company ranked #44 on Inc. Magazine’s Inner-City 100, and in 2000 Interlink was the recipient of the Colorado Biz Company of the Year.
Ms. Link earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Iowa and completed her graduate studies in Burgos, Spain. She and Mr. Strohm have four children and eight grandchildren.
