Claude K. Boettcher
Claude K. Boettcher, or in his time, “the wealthiest man in the West,” was a Colorado native who came from family money and a strong legacy of philanthropy. Through his generous donations, Boettcher helped fund numerous landmark locations in Denver including the Brown Palace Hotel, the Botanic Gardens, Children’s Hospital, the Museum of Natural History, and the Boettcher Concert Hall. He even donated the beautiful building that we now call the Governor’s Mansion.
Boettcher was also dedicated to giving back, so much so that he started his own foundation, the Boettcher Foundation. Today, the Boettcher Foundation is as prevalent as ever and continues to invest in Colorado through a scholarship program for Colorado high school seniors and by giving grants to various non-profits in the state.
