Frank S. Hoag, Sr.
Frank S. Hoag, Sr. was a newspaper boy who turned into a newspaperman. Initially, Hoag started off in Philadelphia working for the Philadelphia Record, but then decided to move west with his family to Colorado. He took a job with the Colorado Springs Telegraph, The Pueblo Chieftain, and finally the Star Journal, promising himself and his employer that he someday would own his own newspaper. In 1918, Hoag achieved that goal upon purchasing The Star Journal and realized that same goal again in 1933 when he purchased The Pueblo Chieftain.
During his time as owner of both publications, Hoag became known for not only quality but also for his commitment to the community and his employees.
