Harry Frampton
Harry Frampton has made developing some of the world’s premier ski resort towns an art form. Combining keen business sense with a respect for culture and sport, Frampton works to provide visitors and residents of these bustling towns with a well-rounded experience.
Frampton, a native of Hartsville, SC, finished his education at Clemson University before beginning his real estate career with Sea Pines Company, where he ultimately became an executive vice president. In 1976, he became president and a majority stockholder of the Brandermill Group in Richmond, VA, before working as president of Vail Associates—the creators of Vail and Beaver Creek Mountain Resorts— from 1982 until 1986.
Currently, Frampton works as managing partner of East West Partners in Vail, which is developing properties in Vail and Beaver Creek, as well as properties in Lake Tahoe, California, and Deer Valley, UT. Additionally, Frampton is the principal of Slifer, Smith & Frampton Real Estate.
Aside from his work in development, Frampton is chairman of the board of the Vail Valley Foundation, which was instrumental in bringing to the area the 1999 World Alpine Ski Championships, the Bolshoi Ballet, the World Championships of Mountain Biking, and former President Gerald Ford’s World Forum.
He has been an active volunteer with the Young President’s organization and a member of the board of directors for FirstBank Holding Company of Colorado for many years. He is the past president of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Large Scale Development Council and Recreation Council. Presently, he is a trustee and chairman of the ULI.
He resides in Vail with his wife Susan, with whom he has two sons, Christopher and Matthew.
