Robert S. (bob) Everitt
Bob Everitt was born and raised in Enid, OK in 1928 and was an alum of Oklahoma University. He and his wife, Joyce, were childhood and college sweethearts who married in 1948. Shortly after graduating from college in 1950, Bob joined the U.S. Army as a member of the Field Artillery division. His military career ended in 1953, following a stint in the Korean War.
Upon his return, the Everitt family moved to Fort Collins and started the Everitt Lumber Company, an idea that grew with the help of funding from Bob’s father, Les. The Everitts’ first venture into real estate was in 1956, during a time when Colorado State University (CSU) and Fort Collins began to prosper, and the area’s population began to increase. This need for housing developments led Bob Everitt to propose two of Fort Collins’ first subdivisions: Indian Hills and University Acres.
Today, Everitt Enterprises has developed many residential subdivisions, administered several thousand residential properties to homeowners, and established partnerships with such nationally-recognized entities as Marriott Hotels. The Everitt family furthered their allegiance to higher education by developing the Center for Advanced Technology in collaboration with the Colorado State University Research Foundation. This unique project included retail, office, industrial residential, and senior citizen care space.
Bob and Joyce had the distinction of being named Honorary CSU Alumni, recognizing their roles as university advisors, friends, and financial supporters. Bob’s community activities and awards include former President of the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce, founding Director of the Downtown Development Authority, a former member of the Colorado State Board of Agriculture, former CSU Foundation Board Member, and the CSU Charles A. Lory Public Services Award.
