Ron Montoya
Ron Montoya started his career as a partner of Plastic Supply Inc. In 1970, he took a temporary leave from the plastics business to work for Governor Romer as the Director of Economic Business. Three years later, Montoya started PlastiComm Industries Inc., a supplier, assembler, and manufacturer of telecommunications products, where he served as president and CEO until the sale of the company in 2009. Under his leadership, PlastiComm Industries was ranked 19th on the Inc. Magazine Inner City 100 list.
Montoya has served as chairman of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce board and as executive director of the Colorado Office of Minority Business. He is proud to be the founder of the Latino Community Foundation and Centro San Juan Diego. Montoya also serves or has served on the boards of the Mexican Cultural Center, the Mountain States Employers Council, National Jewish Hospital, the Denver Convention Center Hotel Authority, US Bank, the Metropolitan State College of Denver Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council and the Rose Community Foundation.
Montoya has received several commendations, awards, and certificates throughout his career, including the Del Hock Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. On its Silver Anniversary, The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Denver honored Montoya by naming an award the Ronald E. Montoya Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2011, Montoya was appointed as honorary lieutenant by the chief of police of the Denver Police Department. Also that year, he received his honorary doctorate from the University of Colorado.
Montoya has lived in the Denver community for more than 70 years. He and his wife, Naomi, have two sons, R.C. and Dan Montoya, who are both involved in the growth and success of Innov8 Solutions.
