Thomas A. Petrie
Prior to joining Petrie Partners as chairman in 2012, Thomas A. Petrie was vice chairman of Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Previously, he was a co-founder of Petrie Parkman & Co., a Denver and Houston-based energy investment banking firm that merged with Merrill Lynch in December 2006. Petrie was a former managing director and senior oil analyst of The First Boston Corporation.
During his career, Mr. Petrie has been an active adviser on more than $200 billion of energy-related mergers and acquisitions, including a number of the largest in the industry. Among its other assignments, Petrie advised Saudi Arabia on its natural gas initiative, Alaska on gas pipeline options, and the U.S. Department of Energy on selling the Elk Hills oilfield.
An active member of several industry associations, Petrie is a past president and member of the board of directors of the National Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts. He has also served on the Securities and Exchange Commission advisory board on oil and gas accounting. Institutional Investor Magazine has recognized Petrie as the top oil and gas exploration and production analyst for eight consecutive years.
As a trustee for the Denver Art Museum, Petrie led the endowment campaign for the Institute of Western American Art. He also serves on the board of governors of the Colorado School of Mines Foundation and is the chairman of the National Western Stock Show Citizens of the West steering committee.
