Tim Gill is a computer programmer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and nationally-recognized leader in advancing LGBTQ rights and equality.

With a $2,000 loan from his parents in 1981, Gill founded Quark, Inc., revolutionizing the publishing industry with innovative and affordable page-layout software. He sold his 50% stake in the company in 1999 for $500 million, setting aside $300 million for causes that advanced rights and inclusion for LGBTQ people.

Gill founded the Gill Foundation in 1994, substantially contributing to many of the country’s watershed victories for LGBTQ equality. In addition to LGBTQ equality, the foundation provides STEM education to every Colorado student, promoting fair lending practices and financial literacy that protects Colorado consumers and public broadcasting. Gill co-chairs the foundation’s board of directors with his husband, Scott Miller.

In 2015, Gill co-founded the smart home technology start-up Josh.ai and is now the chief technology officer. Josh.ai is a voice-controlled home automation system using its own innovative AI technology platform.

The Colorado Business Hall of Fame is co-presented by
Junior Achievement-Rocky Mountain Inc. and the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce.
